FORGIVE ME for being MIA for so long. I’ve been busy having my baby!! Yep, little Baby Bates arrived at the beginning of October pretty much right on schedule. I actually was admitted to the hospital the evening of my last post. Who knew blogging about DIY roman shades could induce labor!
I’ve been preoccupied to say the least, but I was able to get a few Halloweenie accessories up in my living room during a long nap. Nothing overly creative, but festive nonetheless! Here’s my mantel all jazzed up with bottles of creepy potions, a few pumpkins and a ceramic ghost that’s been in the family for probably close to 20 years!
I got these glass bottles at TJ Maxx last year. They looked really cool on my Halloween bar at my old place, but since I don’t have the bar set up yet, I decided to line the bottles up on the mantel instead.
Of course I updated the chalkboard in our gallery wall with a Halloween sentiment! Trick or Treat – very creative – I know! What can I say, sleep deprivation does more than just give you dark circles under your eyes! Hopefully once I start to figure out this mommy thing, I’ll be back on track DIYing and doing all manner of creative things once again.
There’s also a new addition to the gallery wall. A black and white photo of me and the baby that my mom took when we were in the hospital. The photo was a gift from a great friend and I had to hang it up right away! Since I’ve been spending most of my time in the living room these days, I decided the gallery wall was the place where’d I get the most enjoyment out of the photo!
I hope everyone has their Halloween costumes picked out and their candy ready for the Trick or Treaters! My little pumpkin is obviously too small for Halloweening this year, but he’s certainly a sweet prop for photos!
Happy Halloween everyone! Eventually I’ll get back to a more regular blogging schedule. I just wanted to pop in to say ‘hello’ and introduce you all to my little pumpkin!

Thank you!! Decorating the mantel is somehow a nice stress reliever for me! I did it during his naps! I’m still not getting much else done, which is ok. I’m loving my new little one!
